The Game

2027 Aer Lingus College Football Classic

Saturday, August 28, 2027 | Aviva Stadium | Dublin, Ireland
Wisconsin vs. Pittsburgh

Pitt will play a football game outside of the United States for the first time in program history, when the Panthers open their 2027 season against Wisconsin in the sixth-annual Aer Lingus College Football Classic, August 28, 2027, at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The Pitt Panthers and Wisconsin Badgers will meet in Madison on September 19, 2026 during the 2026 regular season. Both teams will then kick off the 2027 campaign in Week Zero with the eighth college football game ever played at Dublin’s 47,000-seat Aviva Stadium.

The schools have only met three times prior to the 2026 season, and the first time since 1967. The Pitt Panthers have won all previous matchups.

Aviva Stadium

Aviva Stadium, which opened in 2010, was built on the site where historic Lansdowne Stadium once stood. Previous college football games played in Aviva Stadium in Dublin include a pair of Notre Dame-Navy games (2012 and 2023), a Georgia Tech-Boston College game in 2016, a 2022 Nebraska-Northwestern game, and the 2023 Florida State-Georgia Tech game. All-told, the Pittsburgh-Wisconsin football game will be the 12th played on Irish soil.
